UnitedHealthcare Motion now available for Oxford groups

The UnitedHealthcare Motion® program is being extended to members of certain Oxford plans, in an effort to further motivate even more members to practice active, healthier lifestyles.

Members of Oxford large group New Jersey (51+) and Connecticut (51+) fully insured plans with a health savings account (HSA) and an April 1, 2020, or later policy effective date, and members of Oxford large group New York (101+) fully insured plans with an HSA and a July 1, 2020 or later policy effective date, will become eligible to participate in the program. Using wearable devices, Motion helps participants track steps, set goals and earn financial incentives when they reach daily walking targets.

How it works

  • Oxford subscribers receive a welcome email from their employer and/or UnitedHealthcare.

  • Subscribers and eligible covered spouses create an account on unitedhealthcaremotion.com,  where they can shop for an activity device or use a qualified device that they already own (e.g., Apple Watch®, options from Fitbit®, Samsung, Garmin®).

  • An "activation credit" may be applied to purchased devices, which are available at preferred prices, or taken as a reward if participants use their own devices. Purchased devices are delivered to the participant’s home.

  • Participants set up their device, begin walking to meet daily FIT (Frequency, Intensity, Tenacity) goals and sync their device daily.

Reaching goals

Motion rewards eligible plan participants for taking steps to lead a healthier lifestyle. Every day, participants may seek to achieve the 3 FIT (walking) goals and their incentives add up.

  • Frequency: 500 steps in 7 minutes; 6 times a day, at least 1 hour apart

  • Intensity: 3,000 steps in 30 minutes

  • Tenacity: 10,000 steps in one day

Eligible plan participants may earn more than $1,000 per year (up to $3 per day) by meeting the daily FIT goals.* Earnings are deposited quarterly into their HSA.

Improving health

The program is part of the broader effort to provide our UnitedHealthcare and Oxford members with incentives that help them take charge of their health, better manage chronic conditions and make care more affordable. These efforts build on UnitedHealthcare’s mission to help people live healthier lives.
